Arytenoid, Corniculate, & Cuneiform Cartilages.
A pair of pyramid-shaped arytenoid cartilages sit on top of the back plate of the cricoid cartilage. At the superior tip of each arytenoid cartilage is a small, corniculate cartilage. The movement of the arytenoid cartilages controls the length and position of the vocal folds, which are attached to the arytenoid cartilages.
Two, small cuneiform cartilages support the soft tissues of the aryepiglottic folds that connects the arytenoid cartilages to the epiglottis.
