The soleus muscle is a leg muscle located on the calf, at the posterior aspect of the leg.

Attachments of Soleus Muscle: Origin & Insertion
Origin: (proximal attachments):
a. Proximal half of posterior surface of tibia along soleal line.
b. proximal 1/3 of posterior fibula.
Insertion: (distal attachments):
Posterior calcaneus via calcaneal tendon.
Actions of Soleus Muscle on the foot:
Plantar flexes foot.
